Senior Rec Center Newsletter - December 2019

The December Wylie Senior Rec Center Newsletter for adults age 55+ is now available on our City web page.

It is hard to believe, the year is almost over. Start filling your calendar for the new year with activities for the Winter 2020 season. Registration opens Sunday, December 8 at 9 am in person and online.

Fight off those holiday calories with the Wednesday Walkers. Every Wednesday we set out at noon for a one mile walk around Community Park, weather permitting.

This month's day trips will find us dining at Villa Vinci, creating a painting masterpiece of our pets, enjoying the talents of the Winter Wonderettes, and taking a chance on a mystery movie.

Now that we have made it through the hottest months, Wednesday Walkers will return to its normal time of 12 - 12:30 pm. Join us for a one mile walk around Community Park, weather permitting.

This month's day trips will find us dining at Dos Banderas, enjoying the musical In the Heights, exploring all the food and fun the State Fair of Texas has to offer, setting out on a ,mystery trip, and expanding our palates at Celebration Restaurant.

This month's day trips will find us dining at Norma's Cafe, marveling at the talent of the performers at the Senior Follies, exploring all that downtown Waxahachie has to offer, and letting our wild side out at the Dallas Zoo.

The August Wylie Senior Rec Center Newsletter for adults age 55+ is now available on our City web page.

During the hot summer months Wednesday Walkers has a new time. The group will be setting out for a one mile walk around Community Park at 8:30 am, weather permitting.

This month's day trips will find us dining at Palio's Pizza, embracing our creative sides at Painting With A Twist, solving a mystery at Escape Experts, marveling at rare, vintage musical instruments at the Olden Year Museum, and learning what MADI art is at the Museum of MADI and Geometric Art.

Try your luck during an overnight trip to WinStar World Casino. Stay the night in the newly opened Pool Tower, relax at the spas, and take a dip in the pool.

The July Wylie Senior Rec Center Newsletter for adults age 55+ is now available on our City web page.

July is National Parks and Rec Month! We've got a lot of fun activities planned throughout the month that embrace this year's theme, Game On. Join us for Taste Test Tuesdays, Cranium Cardio, Frozen Fridays, Game Play, and our game show, Game On. Some activities require registration.

This month's day trips will find us learning about those who spend their lives in the clouds at the CR Smith Museum, observing life in North Texas at the turn of the century at the AW Perry Homestead Museum, and expanding our palates at Legacy Hall.

April showers bring May flowers and Summer registration at Wylie Senior Rec Center. Registration for activities from June - August will begin on May 8 at 9 am in-person and online. The summer Activity Menu will be available to view online or pick up at the Center on May 1.

Revisit the days of bell bottoms and disco balls at the seventh annual Senior Prom. Dust off your dancing shoes come ready to relive your favorite moments from high school prom and make new memories. Enjoy live music, dancing, lunch, and the crowning of Wylie's newest prom king and queen. Register by 4/15.

This month's day trips will take us to enjoy a meal at Olive Garden, on a journey to Ennis, Texas to explore the bluebonnet filled countryside, connect with nature at Texas Freshwater Fish Center, and step back into the days of lords and ladies at Scarborough Renaissance Festival.
