Adult Country, Tango, Jazz Dance and More!

Country Dance Two Step - Boot scoot your way to fun and health! Learn basic steps and turns, and work up to more advanced moves. Energizing steps get your feet moving as you build confidence. All levels benefit from a self-paced instruction that helps you dance like a pro. Classes held at Wylie Recreation Center and open to ages 16 years and older. Taught by awesome expert, Johnny Tan, courses begin Monday, September 8 at 8:30 pm.

Ballroom Dance - Get serious about learning ballroom dance! Learn a variety of steps and combinations at your own pace. Gain confidence, experience and new moves. Learn graceful partnering in a comfortable and friendly environment. Prepare to be a hit at the next wedding or party. Classes held at Wylie Recreation Center and open to ages 16 years and older. Taught by awesome expert, Johnny Tan, courses begin Monday, September 8 at 7:30 pm. Tuesday morning courses are also available!

Senior Round Up Line Dance - Learn to boot-scootin-boogie with friends. Line dancing improves balance, memory and cardio stamina. Learn the basic steps of traditional line dances and country couple dance. All levels welcome. Meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday and 3rd Saturday each month at Wylie Senior Recreation Center. Courses are open to ages 55 years and older. Taught by awesome instructor, Natalie Janson, courses begin Tuesday, September 9 at 10 am.

Jazz Dance - All... that...jazz! For exercise or fun learn stretching techniques to encourage muscle strength and toning. Combine basic ballet techniques with upbeat modern steps found in Pop and Broadway. Engage in cardio strengthening warm-ups, across the floor movements, center work and short combinations. All levels welcome! Classes held at Wylie Recreation Center and open to ages 18 years and older. Taught by awesome expert, Jamie Williams, courses begin Wednesday, October 15 at 7:15 pm.

Hip Hop - The hottest moves for any level! Express personal style, self-awareness and assertiveness while improving motor skills, memory retention and making new friends. Learn the basics of rhythm using a variety of smooth, bouncy and hype moves set to energetic melodies. Classes held at Wylie Recreation Center and open to ages 18 year and older. Taught by awesome expert, Jamie Williams, courses begin Wednesday, September 24 at 6:20 pm.

Ballet - Considered by many to be the foundation for all types of dance, this instruction includes barre work, across the floor progressions, centre work and combinations. Curriculum focuses on the French terminology and appropriate classical music. All levels of dance experience welcome. Classes held at Wylie Recreation Center and open to ages 18 years and older. Taught by awesome expert, Jamie Williams, courses begin Monday, September 8 at 11:30 am.

Natalie Janson has been Line Dancing with her father as early as she can remember. Her unique classroom teaching style and charisma make learning line dances easy for any age or skill level. When not working at the Senior Recreation Center, you can bet Natalie is dancing the night away at Southern Junction where she and her father, Ben, instruct together.

Johnny Tan has been ballroom dancing for over fourteen years. He has taught private and group lessons for the last ten years. He has performed with his dance partners at private and charity events in Baton Rouge and Dallas. Johnny trained with the late Betty Tamas in Baton Rouge and in Dallas he received training from world champions, Gocha Cherkoev and Shorena Gachechiladze. According to Johnny, “Dancing with heart and passion creates a lifetime of bliss in a three-and-a-half-minute song.”

Jamie Williams offers a variety of dance classes including Hip Hop, Drill Team, Ballet and Tap for children and adults. She was captain of her award winning high school drill team. She has been choreographing and teaching dance full time to all ages for the past seven years. Jamie founded, directed and choreographed for Dance Unending Performing Company for three years. Jamie constantly strives to widen her dance experience and learn new methods and techniques.
